Did you know this?

My first card from the "Did you know?" series. I saw a lot of this cards in Canadian users' profiles, so I think it's pretty popular postcards. And a very good idea - to write something interesting about animals/places of your country right on the "face" of the postcard. Thanks, Rose!

Sea lions are characterized by the presence of external ear pinnae or flaps, long front flippers, and the ability to walk on four flippers on land. Sea lions are often a popular attraction at zoos and aquariums, performing tricks such as throwing and catching balls on their noses and clapping. Sea lions of many species have seen a severe and rapid decrease in numbers in recent years. Many factors including overfishing of other species, shooting by fishermen and pollution have probably contributed to the decline"

Olympic card

Wheee! I have a card with an Olympic mascot, Quatchi. Thanks, Trupti!

Olympic Games-2010 in Vacouver have 3 mascots - Quatchi, Sumi and Miga.

Quatchi is a young sasquatch who comes from the mysterious forests of Canada. Quatchi is shy, but loves to explore new places and meet new friends.

Although Quatchi loves all winter sports, he’s especially fond of hockey. He dreams of becoming a world-famous goalie. Because of his large size, he can be a little clumsy. But no one can question his passion. He knows that if he works hard and always does his best, he might one day achieve his dream. Quatchi is always encouraging his friends to join him on journeys across Canada. He is also often recruiting others to play hockey – or at least to take shots at him!

The sasquatch is a popular figure in local native legends of the Pacific West Coast. The sasquatch reminds us of the mystery and wonder that exist in the natural world, igniting our imagination about the possibility of undiscovered creatures in the great Canadian wilderness.

This nice card - from Tonia. I have seen this card before (don't remember where; maybe, on postcrossing.com?) and wanted this card for my collection. And here we go - I have it:)

Queen Victoria and Parlament buildings

And here is a card from one of my most favourite countries:) It's Queen Victoria and Parlament buildings in British Columbia, built in honour of Queen Victoria. The card came to me from Abby. Thanks, Abby!
I said that Canada is one of my favourite countries. Don't remember if I said it before, but my other most favourite countries are France, Portugal, Switzerland and Luxembourg. Yeah:)
It would be interesting to visit Canada some day. It's a very nice country with big Ukrainian diaspora so I think it's a nice place for me to live in:)

Future Olympics home

I love Canada:))) And I was so happy to receive this postcard! Not just because it's from Canada, but also because it's from Vancouver. Vancouver is the future home of Winter Olylmpics-2010. I'm excites to watch it, but at the same time I don't want them, because I know, how many my favourite sportsmen will retire from competetive sport after this event.
I received this postcard from Katie. You can see "sunset view of downtown Vancouver and the snowy North Shore mountain. Included in this view is BC Place, GM Place and Yaletown along the north shore of False Creak". Beautiful postcard (and beautiful stamps, btw).
